Update - 8th August

The first Brunei Handball Tournament on the 29th July was a successful event with Shooter and Nokotta running away with the championship trophies.

Final standings of the men's and women's division:

Few days before the final, Institut Teknologi Brunei conducted a mini handball tournament for their new intakes. Few of the Pro-Team members were involved and present during the tournament. The turn-out was very welcoming and there was quite a significant number of students interested to take on this game as their ECA activities.

On another high note, the Pro-Team also participated in the Hari Belia roadshow that went on for three days, 3rd til 5th at the Indoor Stadium, SHHB Sports Complex. There were more than 200 visitors to the association's booth. It was nice to know that there are interested party from all ages for this game. There were mini shooting game for kids and *cough* adults *cough* as well as skill games and slide display of the tournament pictures. Videos of international and local games were also shown to the public to catch their attention of this beloved game of ours.

As a result of this publicity during the roadshow, there were a number of new faces that came for training last tuesday. We are expecting more, hopefully, with more interested individuals or clubs particularly students to give handball a try. So everyone is welcome to come for training. Remember! You'll never know if you don't try.

Note: There will be NO Training this Saturday 11th August 2007 to respect the Israk Mikraj Celebration. We'll see you Tuesday.

Tournament Update

There has been some changes with the tournament dates due to some difficulties. So:

Group Stage for both male and female team will be held on the 16th July 2007. It will be a whole day round robin matches. Venue remained unchanged i.e. at Multi Purpose Hall, SHHB Sports Complex. Exact fixtures will be given to teams during the Team's Manager Meeting. The Team's Manager Meeting will be on the 15th of July at the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium. Knock-out stage is still scheduled on the 22nd July (watch this space for any changes)

All payment for tournament fees should be made on the 15th July during the Team's Manager Meeting.

Update - 30th June

The handlers has been left frustrated recently in the past week as there weren't any handball session conducted. The one and only venue was used for some other sports purposes. Surely, the handlers will be pumped up for today's training session after a week hiatus. So training session resumes today, it should be all clear. Hopefully!! On another exciting news, Brunei Handball Association will be organising the 1st Brunei Handball Tournament in conjuction to His Majesty's 61st Birthday. The tournament is open for both male and female teams. Tentative dates are on the 17th and 21st for group stages and 22nd of July for knock-out stage. There shall be more updates on the tournament in the near future. Any queries as usual can be forwarded to bruneihandball@gmail.com.

Update - 30th May

It is nice to see that handball is getting the notice gradually in Brunei. There are always new faces on each training session lately. Last saturday, the president of the Pro-team briefed the regular players regarding the progress of the sports we love in Brunei Darussalam. The Pro-team has several invitation from Asian countries to play in their tournaments. However, the days of handball in Brunei are still young and we have to consider these offers without being too ambitious. Hopefully, with the steady progress of handball in Brunei, we hope to be able to produce teams that are significantly good enough to play in these tournaments in the future.

Update - 8th March 2007

It has been one awesome week for the Pro Team. The first friendly game ever between BSB and KB teams was a true success. Although, the BSB teams triumphed in the matches, everyone who played on Sunday were all winners indeed. With already a considerable following in both Brunei Muara and Kuala Belait district, the Pro Team hopes the friendly game which was held in Tutong Sports Complex would attract more interested parties to play handball especially those in Tutong and Temburong districts. Hopefully, this will mark a firm foundation for more future handball activities and establishment of handball teams and clubs in the country.

Update - 28th April

What has been happening so far this week? This very blog was activated on Monday, the date on the first post was on Sunday I know, but that was before I did anything to the time zone setting which was on Western Time initially.

Training unfortunately has been cut down to two days per week as we couldn’t get an available court on Friday. At the moment, training is only on the definite training days which are Tuesday and Saturday. So yes!! There will be a session this afternoon. Everyone is welcome. Don’t be shy!
